Best Air Purifiers in India 2026

We compared 24 air purifiers and picked 12 across every budget — genuine H13/H14 HEPA, honest CADR coverage and proven Indian service, from ₹5,499 to ₹29,900.

Quick Answer

The Coway Airmega 150 is our best overall air purifier in India. It pairs genuine H13 and carbon filtration with the best-proven reliability here. Budget buyers should look at the Eureka Forbes 355 for full-room coverage under ₹10,000. The premium tier is weak this year, so most people should buy mid-range. Match the CADR to your room, and always price the filter, not just the machine.

Key Takeaways

  • Coway Airmega 150 is the safest all-round buy — H13 + carbon, 22 dB sleep, ~1% recent negative.
  • Under ₹10,000, the Eureka Forbes 355 is the only pick that truly covers a full room.
  • The premium tier is weak this year — filter cost, coverage or sensor flags on all three.
  • Insist on True HEPA H13, plus a separate activated-carbon layer for Indian cooking odours.
  • Divide any 'covers X sq ft' claim by three to four for real 5-ACH coverage.

Indian air turns dangerous every winter. Delhi, Kanpur and much of the north spend months deep in the red on the AQI scale. A good air purifier is now a bedroom essential, not a luxury. The right one clears PM2.5, smoke and dust while you sleep. The wrong one is a noisy fan with a marketing sticker.

We looked at 24 air purifiers on Amazon.in. We kept the 12 that earn their price. We weighed filter grade, real CADR, noise, sensors and cost. We read the newest India reviews for each one. Which brand you can trust settled the close calls. Our picks span every budget, from ₹5,499 to ₹29,900.

How We Rated These Products

Weighted for Indian buyers: filtration and coverage first, then noise, smart features and long-term reliability.

Scored out of 10
Filtration Quality

The filter media grade drives this. True HEPA H13 or H14 beats a vague 'HEPA-type' claim. We credit a separate activated-carbon layer for odours, smoke and VOCs. We apply a small penalty to ionizer or plasma stages that can emit trace ozone.

30%
Clean Air Delivery & Coverage

CADR in m³/h is the hard number, and higher always wins for a given room. We rank real coverage at 5 air changes an hour, not the inflated brochure figure. We divide marketing sq-ft claims by three to four, or trust India reviews.

25%
Noise & Comfort

We use the rated dB at sleep speed and at maximum, and lower wins. A bedroom unit should sit below 35 dB on sleep. We also credit a true sleep mode and an auto-dimming display.

15%
Smart Features & Usability

A real-time numeric PM2.5 readout from a laser sensor is the headline. An on-device number beats an app-only reading, which beats a colour light. We also weigh auto mode, app control and sensor reliability.

15%
Running Cost & Reliability

The recent India reviews drive this, our main sign of how a unit holds up. We weigh filter cost, filter supply, power draw and warranty. Most of all we weigh brand service across India. A run of fault reports pulls the score down hard.

15%

Best Air Purifiers Under ₹10,000

Budget purifiers from ₹5,499 to ₹9,999 for a bedroom or small room. You get genuine H13 filtration at the cost of a trade-off. Expect small coverage, a thin warranty, or a higher defect rate. One pick here covers a full room; the rest are room-specific. Check every unit on arrival and keep the return window in mind.

Our Verdict

The budget pick when you need to cover a full room. It moves 355 m³/h over 480 sq ft, with a real H13 and carbon stack and a numeric display. Eureka Forbes service backs it across India. Accept two limits. The warranty is only one year, and some units arrive with a faulty AQI display. Check the screen works on arrival.

Our Verdict

Appealing under ₹9,000 for a rare on-device AQI number and near-silent nights. Two catches are real. It has no carbon stage, so it does little for smells. And a quarter of recent buyers report defects or early failure. Fine for dust and allergens in a small bedroom. It is not the one for kitchens or smoke.

Our Verdict

Remarkable spec for the money — a 5-layer H13 stack with app and voice control under ₹7,000. The risk is consistency. Around a fifth of recent buyers report dead units or Wi-Fi pairing problems, and Qubo's service network is thin. Coverage is small at 200 sq ft, so it suits a bedroom only. A good budget gamble, not a set-and-forget buy.

The most dependable budget buy, if you match it to its job. It is a genuine H13 and carbon filter for a desk or small bedroom. It runs near-silent, costs little to run and is the best-reviewed budget pick. Just do not expect it to clean a living room. It is a small unit and honest about it.

On paper this is the best bedroom unit here. It runs at 13 dB on sleep, moves a strong 420 m³/h and shows a numeric AQI number. It is also made in India. The catch is thin Indian review evidence, as most reviews are European. A couple of local buyers report weak results and slow service. It sits below the proven Coways for that reason.

Buy this to clean a large living room. Its 408 m³/h CADR and 570 sq ft rating beat every other reliable pick here. It stays quiet on sleep mode too. Watch two things before you buy. A quiet, app-linked unit for a small room. It has a real carbon layer, unlike its cheaper AC0920 sibling, just over ₹10,000. The catch is quality. About a third of recent India reviews report faults or a bad AQI sensor. Check the unit on arrival and keep the return window open. Good filter, shakier build.

Our Verdict

The design-led premium option, and the washable filter removes running cost from the sum. At ₹30,000 the complaints matter, though. Owners report an unreliable AQI sensor and weak odour removal, both across recent India reviews. There is no published CADR to check the coverage claim. Buy it for the design and the quiet, not for the smarts.

Buying Tips

CADR and real coverage — halve the marketing number

CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate, in m³/h) is the most useful spec. A higher CADR clears a given room faster. Ignore the headline 'covers up to X sq ft', which brands quote at 1-2 air changes an hour. Indian pollution needs about 5 changes an hour. So divide the claimed area by three or four. That is how a Shark rated 1400 sq ft is really a ~300-350 sq ft unit.

Insist on True HEPA H13 (or H14), and a real carbon filter

Only True HEPA H13 (99.95% at 0.3 micron) or H14 (99.995%) is real HEPA. 'HEPA-type', 'H11' or a vague '99.9% of PM2.5' is weaker. Just as key is a separate carbon layer. That is what clears cooking smells, smoke, VOCs and fumes. A HEPA-only unit like the Philips AC0920 cuts dust but does little for smells.

A numeric AQI display beats a coloured light

Cheap units show air quality as a colour ring. A numeric PM2.5 readout tells you the actual number and lets you trust auto mode. On-device, from a laser sensor, is best. But a sensor is only as good as its calibration. Some units here are reported to read two to three times high or get stuck. Read recent reviews for 'sensor' complaints before paying for a smart model.

Filter running cost can dwarf the sticker price

A purifier is a subscription. You buy new filters every one to two years. Coway's 8,500-hour filters cost about ₹2,500 to ₹3,000, so they are cheap to run. Philips is the other extreme. AC4221 owners report its twin filters die in under six months, at ~₹6,000 a pair. Two models flip this. The Shark 5-year filter and Dyson's washable filter cost almost nothing. Always price the filter, not just the machine.

Service network matters more than a spec sheet

Purifiers fail — motors, sensors, boards — and then a service network matters most. Coway and Eureka Forbes have real repair teams across India. Philips is patchy. Small or imported brands often give only WhatsApp help, with no local service. Rank service and how a unit holds up above feature count.

Beware ozone from ionizer and plasma stages

Some units add an ionizer, plasma or negative-ion stage on top of the filter. These can emit trace ozone, a lung irritant, in a closed bedroom. Often there is no way to switch the stage off. If anyone at home has asthma or allergies, choose a sealed HEPA and carbon unit with no ionizing stage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which air purifier should I buy for a typical Indian bedroom?
For most bedrooms up to ~350 sq ft, the Coway Airmega AIM (₹13,999) or 150 (₹16,999) are the safest buys. Both use real H13 and carbon filters, run at a quiet 22 dB on sleep and carry a 7-year motor warranty. They hold up best of any pick here. Want the quietest unit with a numeric display? The Philips AC2220 is stronger on paper. But its India track record is thinner.
Is a True HEPA H13 filter necessary, or is "HEPA-type" fine?
Insist on True HEPA H13 (99.95% at 0.3 micron) or H14 (99.995%). A 'HEPA-type', 'H11' or vague '99.9%' claim traps far less fine dust. That is the PM2.5 that matters in Indian air. Every pick here uses real H13 or H14, bar the Levoit Core Mini. Its H13-grade filter is just not lab-certified.
Do I really need an activated carbon filter?
For Indian homes, yes. HEPA traps dust, pollen and PM2.5, but does nothing for gas and smells. A separate carbon layer clears cooking smells, smoke, VOCs and fumes. Watch out for HEPA-only units like the Philips AC0920. It has no carbon, so it will not help with smells.
How much do replacement filters cost, and how often?
Plan for a new filter every one to two years. Coway filters are cheap. They cost about ₹2,500 for 8,500 hours. Levoit filters run ₹800 to ₹1,200 every 6 to 9 months. At the high end, Philips AC4221 owners report filters dying in under six months, at about ₹6,000 a pair. The Shark (5-year) and Dyson (washable) cost next to nothing.
Why is the premium (₹20,000+) tier the weakest this year?
All three premium picks carry real flags. The Philips AC4221 has top specs, but many recent buyers pan its short filter life and cost. The Shark HP300 badly overstates its coverage. It has also gone quiet in India since April. The Dyson Hushjet has a weak sensor and poor smell removal at ₹30,000. For most buyers, the mid-range Coways are the smarter spend.
Are ionizer or "plasma" purifiers safe?
Sealed HEPA and carbon filters are safe. Units that add an ionizer, plasma or ion stage can give off trace ozone. Ozone harms the lungs, above all in a small closed room. Does anyone at home have asthma or allergies? Then pick a plain HEPA and carbon unit with no ion stage.
Can I trust the star rating on the listing?
Not on its own. Several units here have a healthy all-time rating that hides a much weaker recent one. The Philips AC4221 shows 4.6 stars. Yet about 32% of its recent India reviews are negative. Some scores are lifted by foreign buyers too. The AC2220 and Shark headlines lean on European reviews. Always read the newest India reviews.
What size room can a purifier under ₹10,000 actually handle?
Realistically a bedroom or small room. The Levoit Core Mini covers about 183 sq ft — a desk or small bedroom. The Eureka 355 (355 CADR, 480 sq ft) is the only budget pick that truly covers a full room. Do not expect a sub-₹10,000 purifier to clean a large living room in high pollution. That needs a mid-range or premium unit.
